United Airlines (UA, Chicago O'Hare) is planning to acquire up to forty second-hand A320 Family jets Bloomberg has reported quoting an internal company memo to pilots.

According to the report, the carrier is looking at "thirty to forty" A319 and A320 jets with a deal said to be imminent. However, the final agreement could be for fewer.

Sources familiar with the matter told Bloomberg that aircraft operated by easyJet (U2, London Luton) could be a potential source adding that most of the aircraft to be acquired would be A319s.

United currently operates sixty-six A319-100s and ninety-eight A320-200s. Currently United is already in the process of adding up to 25 ex-China Southern Airlines (CZ, Guangzhou) A319-100s on dry-lease from AerCap.
