First A350-1000 wing goes into production

Next generation of Airbus’ all-new wide-body airliner takes shape

18 AUGUST 2015 PRESS RELEASE
The wings for the first Airbus A350-1000 have begun the process of assembly at Broughton, North Wales.
The A350-1000 wing has the same span of the A350-900 that is already in service, but 90% of the parts have been modified and the trailing edge has been extended to resize the wing for the additional payload and range.

At 32 metres long by six metres wide, the A350 XWB wing is the largest single part made from carbon fibre composite material in use in civil aviation today. They are designed and developed at Airbus’ facility in Filton, near Bristol, where a number of other systems are designed and tested including fuel systems and landing gear.
The high-performance wings of the A350 XWB make the aircraft faster, more efficient and quieter. The wing design includes several streamlined features. Among these are droop-nose leading edge devices and new adaptive dropped-hinge flaps, which increase the jetliner’s efficiency at low speeds.
To improve efficiency at higher speeds, the A350 XWB can deflect its wing flaps differentially, optimising the wing profile and providing better load control.

IndiGo firms up 250 A320neo aircraft – Airbus’ largest order by number

Boosting Airbus’ firm backlog for its leading Single Aisle well beyond 4000 aircraft

17 AUGUST 2015 PRESS RELEASE
India’s largest domestic airline by market share, IndiGo celebrated their 9th birthday by firming up their last year’s commitment and ordering 250 A320neo Family aircraft. This historic aircraft purchase agreement was signed on the 69th Independence Day of India on the 15th of August, 2015.
Aditya Ghosh, President of IndiGo said, “This new order further reaffirms IndiGo’s commitment to the long-term development of affordable air transportation in India and overseas. The additional fuel efficient A320neo aircraft will enable us to continue to bring our low fares and courteous, hassle free service to more customers and markets and will create more job opportunities and growth. The IndiGo team is even more energised and excited than ever before to herald this new phase of our growth for many years to come.”
IndiGo placed an order in 2005 for 100 A320s which have all now been delivered. In 2011 IndiGo became the first Indian operator to commit to the A320neo bringing their total to 280 Airbus aircraft. With today’s announcement, IndiGo has ordered 530 A320 Family aircraft with Airbus.
“It fills us with pride that IndiGo, India’s largest airline and one of the early launch customers for the A320neo, is coming back for more of our benchmark aircraft. This order confirms the A320 Family as the airliner of choice in the most dynamic aviation growth markets. We thank IndiGo and its Co-Founders, Rakesh Gangwal and Rahul Bhatia for their tremendous vote of confidence,” said John Leahy, Airbus Chief Operating Officer Customers.
The A320neo “new engine option” incorporates many innovations, including latest generation engines and large Sharklet wing-tip devices, which together deliver 15 percent in fuel savings from day one and 20 per cent by 2020. This is equivalent to a reduction of 5,000 tonnes of CO2 per aircraft per year.
The A320 Family is the world’s best-selling single aisle product line with over 11,800 orders to date and more than 6,600 aircraft delivered to 400 customers and operators worldwide. With this order the A320neo order backlog is catapulted to over 4100 aircraft, clearly underpinning its market leading position. Thanks to its widest cabin, all members of the A320 Family offer the industry’s best level of comfort in all classes and Airbus’ 18” wide seats in economy as standard.

THE MONTH IN REVIEW: JULY 2015

Airbus booked 26 orders from its A320 and A330 product lines in July, while the month’s 49 deliveries were composed of A320 Family, A330 and A380 aircraft.
An undisclosed customer ordered 25 A321neo aircraft, marking another major endorsement for the new engine option (NEO) versions of Airbus’ best-selling single-aisle jetliners. It also highlights the growing market demand for larger, fuel-efficient aircraft – as the A321 is the longest-fuselage variant in the A320 Family.
Also in July, the Groupe Dubreuil acquired an A330-300 in the latest 242 metric ton maximum take-off weight configuration, becoming a new customer for the versatile A330 widebody jetliner series.
The month’s transactions brought Airbus’ 2015 net orders to 367 aircraft through July, which takes into account cancellations and delivery slot releases.
Deliveries during July involved 45 A320 Family aircraft, two A330s and two A380s.  This included the first A321 for Transaero Airlines, Russia’s second largest carrier – which became a new Airbus operator through its contract with the ICBC Leasing Company.
In 2015, Airbus completed 353 deliveries to 72 customers from January through July, compared to 352 during the same period last year.
Based on the month’s order and delivery activity, Airbus’ backlog of aircraft to be delivered totalled 6,400 jetliners as of July 31.

IAG orders 31 widebody & single aisle aircraft

Eight A350 XWBs, three A330s, 20 A320neos for the group

6 AUGUST 2015 PRESS RELEASE
International Airlines Group (IAG) has signed a firm order for 31 Airbus aircraft, which includes 11 wide-body aircraft (eight A350-900s, three A330-200s) and 20 A320neos. The A350s and A330s are slated for Iberia’s fleet modernisation and to open new long-haul routes, and the A320neos will be allocated to the group’s airlines for fleet replacement.
With this latest order for 31 aircraft IAG and its airlines have ordered a total of nearly 450 aircraft from Airbus. IAG’s airlines British Airways, Iberia and Vueling, between them operate nearly every aircraft in Airbus’ product range from the smallest single aisle A318 to the world’s largest wide-body A380.
“IAG’s additional order for A350s and A330s is very significant for us and highlights the appeal of our leading wide-body Family. It always fills us with great pride when one of our biggest and most influential customers recognises the superior operating economics and passenger experience of our aircraft”, said John Leahy, Chief Operating Officer – Customers. “The repeat selection of the A320neo is also a great endorsement of the world’s preferred single aisle Family among the world’s most prestigious carriers.”
The A350 XWB is the world’s most modern and efficient aircraft family. Over 780 aircraft have been ordered and five delivered. Since entering into service in January 2015, the fleet of five A350 XWBs have demonstrated high operational reliability and passenger appeal. The A330 is one of the most popular and versatile widebody aircraft ever and has to date won over 1,500 orders, with over 1,200 delivered to some 110 operators worldwide.
The A330, the A350 XWB and A380 make up the Airbus widebody aircraft Family, which uniquely spans the 250 to over-500 seats segment.
The A320neo Family aircraft offers the lowest operating costs of any single aisle aircraft delivering 15% fuel burn reduction at entry into service, and 20% by 2020, achieved through cabin innovations, latest engine technologies, and overall efficiency improvements. To date, the A320 Family has won more than 11,800 orders and over 6,600 aircraft delivered to more than 300 operators worldwide.

Airbus welcomes Transaero as a new operator

The A321 offers the best in class fuel efficiency and low operating costs

3 AUGUST 2015 PRESS RELEASE
Transaero Airlines, Russia’s second largest airline, took delivery of its first Airbus A321 aircraft. The festive ceremony was held in Vnukovo international airport (Moscow) on the arrival of the A321 welcomed by the airline management, representatives of Vnukovo, Airbus and members of the media. The aircraft is delivered as part of Transaero’s contract with ICBC Leasing Company.
‪Transaero’s A321, powered by CFM56 engines, features a two-class cabin layout seating 184 passengers (eight in business  and 176 in economy ). The spacious configuration offers unbeatable passenger comfort in both classes. The airline plans  to operate its A321 fleet on premium international routes.
Olga Pleshakova, CEO Transaero Airlines said, “We are very pleased with this important step made towards further development of our cooperation with Airbus. I would like to express our sincere gratitude to the largest Chinese bank – ICBC Bank and its subsidiary ICBC Leasing, who trust Transaero as a reliable partner, which is highlighted by the implementation of the signed contract. The addition of highly efficient aircraft to the company’s fleet will contribute to enhancing the company’s profitability, optimizing the airline’s passenger capacity, and will see withdrawal of aircraft, which are of low demand in the current market conditions.”
‪"We are delighted to welcome Transaero, one of the leading Russian airlines, as a new Airbus operator. Transaero will undoubtedly benefit from the A321’s unbeatable operating costs and passenger comfort in all classes,’’ said John Leahy, Chief Operating Officer, Customers.
Transaero Airlines launched services in November 1991, and currently serves more than 200 routes all over the world.
The A320 Family is the world’s best-selling single aisle product line with over 11,800 orders since launch and more than 6,600 aircraft delivered to more than 300 operators worldwide. Thanks to their widest cabin, all members of the A320 Family offer unmatched comfort in all classes and Airbus’ 18” wide seats in economy as standard. With one aircraft in four sizes (A318, A319, A320 & A321), the A320 Family, seating from 100 to 240 passengers, seamlessly covers the entire single-aisle segment from low to high-density domestic to longer range routes.
