In April, Airbus logged a 100-aircraft boost to its 2011 order volume – which also served as an important endorsement for its A320 new engine option jetliner programme, while delivering 48 aircraft during the month.
The new business was ILFC’s firm contract for 100 A320neo Family aircraft, confirming a memorandum of understanding for this deal announced in March.  ILFC’s acquisition was listed on the Airbus order listing as 75 A320s and 25 A321s, with the leasing company also confirming its selection of Pratt & Whitney engines to power at least 60 of the aircraft.
With the ILFC booking, total Airbus A320 Family orders have surpassed the 7,000 milestone, reaching 7,025 as of 30 April.
Airbus delivered 39 jetliners from its A320 Family product line in April (composed of 31 A320s, four A319s and four A321s), including the first of five directly-purchased A319s for S.A.T. – the holding of Berlin-based carrier Germania.
Widebody deliveries to international customers during the month were composed of five A330-200s and three A330-300s; along with an A380 for Qantas Airways – bringing the total number of these 21st century flagship airliners provided for airline operators by Airbus to 46.
